How our clear processes help02
Agreed terms, decisions and approvals become reusable company know-how. Playbooks, fallback positions and approval records give the next matter an established starting point, rather than another briefing from scratch.
How our clear processes help03
Regular check-ins and concise reports show what is underway, what is at risk and where your decision will move things forward. You choose the next priority.
How we help you avoid surprisesThree levels of coverage
Choose the level of support your workload needs, from straightforward reviews and templates to bespoke MSAs and complex negotiations. Every plan gets the legal work done and develops reusable company know-how. Tokens show how much substantive work is included, so you pay for results rather than the time each task takes.

Fees exclude VAT where applicable. Each client has their own service quarters: 18 / 36 / 75 Tokens, available upfront and expiring at quarter-end. There is no separate setup fee; we agree how onboarding uses part of your first quarter’s Tokens. Work is scheduled within each plan’s active-matter limits. See how Tokens work.
Four different answers
These approaches can overlap. Fractional legal counsel can include senior legal leadership, hands-on legal work or both. The useful distinction is what gets done, how the work is managed and what your company retains afterwards.
Useful for generation and synthesis, but the company still owns verification, decisions and implementation.
Best for significant transactions, disputes or specialist opinions; recurring company context may sit elsewhere.
A senior legal adviser working with your leadership team on a part-time basis. Some engagements also include hands-on legal delivery and ongoing management of the work.
Legal work that moves your business forward, with priorities managed and agreed positions ready to build on. One joined-up function, getting stronger with every matter.
Choose the right service for the decision you need to make. For board-level strategic legal leadership or a major regulated transaction, senior GC or specialist counsel may be the right lead. When recurring contracts, governance and legal workflow need ownership and continuity, a maintained outsourced function may fit better.
Built-in safeguards
“Stop paying for lawyers’ time. Start paying for their value.”
We do not bill by the hour for outsourced legal-function work. You buy legal work and an organised legal function, focused on moving decisions and contracts forward, not running up time.
Not included in your plan
Major financings, M&A, restructurings and complex shareholder matters need a separate scope. Detailed regulatory advice is also scoped separately outside the outsourced legal function: we agree what Covrig Counsel can advise on and when a specialist is needed. Tax, disputes, non-English law and other specialist advice are scoped separately with the appropriate adviser.
Discuss your workCommon questions
Not every company does. If you have an occasional isolated issue, start with a fixed-fee project. A managed function becomes useful when contracts, decisions and requests recur across people or departments and someone needs to manage the work and preserve the company’s position.
Tell us your budget and the work that matters most. We can discuss a narrower fixed-fee project or a different scope; we will not suggest that the full monthly function can be delivered for a price that does not support it.
There is overlap. Fractional counsel engagements vary: some focus on senior legal leadership, while others include recurring legal work. We deliver that support through a managed outsourced legal function: doing the agreed work, managing priorities and building your company’s know-how with every matter. You get a continuing legal function, not simply a reserved allocation of a lawyer’s time. Compare the models.
Yes. Despite all the noise around legal AI, it cannot do all the legal work yet. Our solicitors provide advice and undertake drafting, review and negotiation within your plan’s scope and capacity. Our legal matter register and established working method help us prioritise the work and carry useful knowledge into the next matter.
Brief in-scope questions answerable from our existing knowledge, without substantive research or document review, ordinarily use no Tokens. If a question needs deeper work, we agree its Token estimate before starting. See examples.
We agree which employees can instruct us. They email us; we add requests to the legal matter register. Other colleagues can supply information on an authorised matter, while authorised employees control new instructions and priorities.
We know that not all months are equal. Your Tokens are pooled across a three-month service period, with the full allowance available from the start, so a busier month can draw on capacity from a quieter one. Unused Tokens expire at quarter-end. If the allowance is still not sufficient, we first discuss reprioritisation. If additional capacity or a separate project is appropriate, you receive a quotation and nothing extra is charged without approval.
Tell us the deadline as soon as possible. We will say what is achievable. Same-day or weekend support may be available with an agreed additional Token allocation or a separately approved fee, confirmed before the work begins.
Yes. We can manage the day-to-day legal work and, where agreed, coordinate a defined specialist workstream. The relevant specialist is responsible for their own advice, and their scope and fee are agreed separately so responsibility stays clear.
Get in touch about the work you need covered. We recommend a plan and agree the monthly fee and how onboarding fits into your first month before work begins.
